Terry
Mclemore - Director/ChoreagrapherTerry is excited to be involved with Circle Players production of Singin in the Rain and is fortunate to be working with this extraordinary cast and crew. A native of Kingsport Tennessee, Terry now calls Hendersonville home. He began his professional career playing the role of George M. Cohan in Opryland, USA’s production of For Me and My Gal. From there, Broadway beckoned and Terry moved to the Big Apple. There he had the pleasure of performing in Michael Bennett’s A Chorus Line, Gower Champion’s 42nd Street, and Hello Dolly! with Ms. Channing. Terry was a replacement in the Broadway company of Singin in the Rain. Terry was featured in the National Tour of My Fair Lady starring Rex Harrison and portrayed the role of Hanna in the National Tour of La Cage aux Folles. A personal thrill was to be one of twelve men chosen to perform with Ginger Rogers and Carol Lawrence on the stage of New York’s Radio City Music Hall and to dance with the infamous Radio City Music Hall Rocketts. Terry toured with Kaye Ballard in Girl Crazy and with Delores Gray in Gypsy. Seven years ago, Terry staged 42nd Street for Circle Players, using much of Gower Champion’s original choreography and was awarded Circle’s Best Director award. Terry staged productions of Nuncrackers (The Tennessean’s Tinnie award for Best Director), Crazy for You (Circle Player’s award for Best Director) and The Sound of Music. Last season Terry co-choreographed Oklahoma! with Tim Larson and shared Circle Players Best Choreographer award. Terry portrayed the role of Daddy Warbucks in Circle’s production of Annie, and played Ike Skidmore in Oklahoma!. As a member of the Barbershop Quartet in The Music Man, Circle Players awarded the quartet its Best Cameo award. Terry recently appeared in The Will Rogers Follies, Urinetown and Into the Woods at the Boiler Room Theater in Franklin. In April, Terry will recreate the role of Michael in I Do! I Do! at the Mel O’Drama theater in Springfield, Tennessee.. There are not enough words to express his thanks to Jeanne Ackerly for her talent, commitment and total support. “She keeps us all “Singin in the Rain” . |
