Long time no write! But never the less… Kathryn Leigh Clubb (Martha ‘hip-hop hooray’) is back with your (supposedly) weekly High School Musical update. I haven’t been at rehearsals the entire week (yikes!) until yesterday, that is, so I thought this would be a good time to update you on all that’s been happening.

To begin with, the cast has become a lot like a family… true, a rather odd family, but then again not too odd considering it’s a theatre family. Yesterday everyone was willing to help me learn or be aware of little parts that I missed during the week of blocking. (SIDE NOTE: By the way, for all you people reading this that are reading it for how the show is being put together, I love the way Ms. Sara blocks scenes. She will have you take your starting place that she has given you in the scene that is being blocked, next she will give you a run-down of what she wants to happen in the scene, if your character needs to move she will have you mark the movement. Then after blocking the entire scene, she will have you run it, and lastly, she will go back and tweak it. This is simple yet extremely efficient; there is no stopping the scene and going “no, no, I don’t like that” and totally messing the players up… sorry, had to put that in :END SIDE NOTE) We also have all our extremely silly inside jokes. And people notice when other cast members are gone; when they get back, it’s not like, “Geeze, where were you! Do you know how hard it is to act to an invisible person!?” You can tell they really missed you and want to know how you are.

Yesterday, Molly (Ms. Darbus) brought her adorable son (I think his name is Jude) to rehearsal with her, and she was introducing him to all of us. While Molly was working scenes, he sat with some of the cast that were eating lunch. Then, since it was pouring down rain, two of the cast took him out to play in the rain. Not only that, but when there was a break in scenes and it was already pouring, Bob {Troy} made a mad dash out to his convertible car that still had the top down… others followed suit… I haven’t heard if the car is OK or not.

Yeah, it’s a lot, and I mean a lot, of work, but we are having so much fun. At least I know I am!

Check the rest of the site for a few production pictures and more headshots/bios! Oh, and I think we are doing a short preview at Nashville Shores on July 7th! Come and see us!!
